A busy month

We had a lovely start to the month with a very warm response to Sixteen at Theatre 503. Thanks to Phyllis and Leona for bringing Gladys and Shanice so memorably to life, and to Andrew for directing the play with such a deft touch.

I’ve found both of the recent Rapid Write Response plays hugely enjoyable and helpful to my development as a writer. With Polythene I could have fun exploring all angles of a three-way power struggle against the backdrop of the worst morning-after-the-night-before ever. While Sixteen was a much more delicate and uplifting piece, containing both the oldest and the youngest characters I’ve written so far.

Meanwhile I’ve been scribbling away on new projects, with a couple of longer plays in the pipeline and a new film script. Hopefully more news on those soon!

New play: Polythene

Rapid Write ResponseIt’s the morning after a wild night. Miles is passed out in the basement and his house is in ruins. So far so normal. But something lurks upstairs that threatens to change his world for good.

Polythene is a new short play written especially for Theatre 503’s Rapid Write Response event on Monday 29 April.

Directed by Hannah Joss, Polythene features Matt Tait as Miles, Emmy Rose as Kitty and John Hastings as Charles.

Rapid Write Response is an evening of short plays written in response to The Life of Stuff by Simon Donald, currently enjoying a highly acclaimed run at Theatre 503.

Check with Theatre 503 for further details, or visit the Facebook event page. The show starts at 7.45pm and tickets are £7 in advance.
