Two playwriting competitions are looking for entries by the end of March.

The prestigious Papatango New Writing Prize is open for previously unproduced plays of at least 90 minutes, with one main prize of a full production at the Finborough Theatre and publication by Nick Hern Books.

Meanwhile Theatre503 has launched its own New Playwriting Award for plays of at least 60 minutes. This carries a cash prize of £6000 and a production of the winning play at Theatre503. Entrants may also be considered for the 503Five resident writer programme.

These are two fantastic opportunities for new writers. The deadline for both competitions is 31 March, so get writing!

For those in the Brighton area, my play The Inside Man will be read at Sussex Playwrights’ Club on Sunday 2 February. The meeting will be held at the New Venture Theatre, Brighton, starting at 7pm.
