A busy month

We had a lovely start to the month with a very warm response to Sixteen at Theatre 503. Thanks to Phyllis and Leona for bringing Gladys and Shanice so memorably to life, and to Andrew for directing the play with such a deft touch.

I’ve found both of the recent Rapid Write Response plays hugely enjoyable and helpful to my development as a writer. With Polythene I could have fun exploring all angles of a three-way power struggle against the backdrop of the worst morning-after-the-night-before ever. While Sixteen was a much more delicate and uplifting piece, containing both the oldest and the youngest characters I’ve written so far.

Meanwhile I’ve been scribbling away on new projects, with a couple of longer plays in the pipeline and a new film script. Hopefully more news on those soon!

New play: Sixteen

Rapid Write ResponseI’m thrilled to say that I’ll be at Theatre 503 again on Monday June 4 with Sixteen, another Rapid Write Response play.

Sixteen is about two women at different ends of life’s journey and asks, in 2013, how soon is too soon to grow up? Featuring Phyllis McMahon as Gladys and Leona Allen as Shanice.

This new short play, directed by Andrew Whyment, was written in response to Playing With Grown Ups by Hannah Patterson, currently running at Theatre 503 (and nominated for four Off West End Awards).

Here’s a Facebook event page for the show, which starts at 7.45pm. Tickets are £7 in advance, available now from Theatre 503.
